SUSAN McKENDRY
MEET
A PROVEN LEADER. A COMMITTED NEIGHBOR. A STRONG VOICE FOR CROWN POINT
My story is rooted in faith, family, service, and hard work. Raised in rural Indiana with deep Hoosier roots, I learned the values of perseverance, accountability, and helping neighbors from an early age. As military spouse our family lived all over our country. When my husband’s active duty military career came to close, Indiana called us home. We chose Crown Point as the place to build a future and nurture our family — a community I am proud to serve and committed to leading with integrity, unity, and dedication to every resident and business owner.
I am a wife, mother, grandmother, retired safety & risk managment professional, and proud Hoosier who believes strong communities are built on accountability, integrity, and service.Â
Â
My family’s roots in our great nation stretch back to before our country was founded and are deeply woven into the very fabric of Indiana’s own history.  In 1828, six years before Solon Robinson came to what is now Crown Point, my 4th maternal great grandparents came by wagon to Tippecanoe County, settling land given to them by Presidents Van Buren and Polk. Â

My ancestors were Hoosier farmers, pioneers, and soldiers—men and women who cleared land, built homes, and answered the call when their country needed them.

Growing up in rural Indiana, I learned early the values of hard work, faith, and community. Raised by devoted parents in a close-knit family, I was taught that leadership means serving and helping neighbors and standing up for what is right. Those lessons have stayed with me through every chapter of life.

I hold a paralegal certification and earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University. As a paralegal I worked for the Allen County prosecutor and the Social Security Administration for a disability judge. I spent 25+ years working in occupational safety, risk management, and loss control. Throughout my career, I trained employees to work safer, helped organizations identify problems, strengthen systems, protect people, and ensure accountability. I learned how to evaluate complex challenges, manage risk, and make responsible decisions before small problems become major ones.

I am running for Mayor because I believe Crown Point deserves transparent government, ethical leadership, responsible growth, and a renewed commitment to the residents who make this city special. As our community continues to grow, we must protect the character, quality of life, and strong sense of community that brought so many of us here in the first place.

Public office should never be about politics or personal gain. It should be about service. I believe government must answer to its residents, operate openly, and always put the interests of the community first.

I love Crown Point! I am committed to working every day to ensure it remains a safe, thriving, and welcoming community for future generations. I would be honored to earn your trust and your support.
